Abstract:
National Spinning Company was founded in 1920. The company opened its first North Carolina plant in Washington in 1953 and a second one at Whiteville in 1959. The company's wisdom was questioned because the plant locations were in areas of unskilled labor. Today these successful operations have a workforce of over 700 and annual payroll of over $2 million.
