Abstract:
Winemaking is making a comeback in North Carolina. Medoc Vineyard, founded in 1835 in Halifax County, was the state's first winery. Duplin Wine Cellars, located in Rose Hill, is one of the state's newest wineries.

By day, Mel Kester is a corporate executive at Cannon Mills, Inc., in Kannapolis. He is vice president of the company's award winning Package Design Department. In the after-hours he is a painter. He began in a serious way in 1969 and has now produced over four hundred works, many of which have found their way around the country and across the world.

Abstract:
After years of presenting its collection of countless items in an ill-arranged manner and displaying them darkly in row after row of old cases, the North Carolina State Museum of Natural History in Raleigh has a new look. The problems were a small budget and an even smaller staff. The new look is the result of over $400,000 in structural and mechanical improvements and a more realistic budget.
