Abstract:
For many years, Dr. Griggs has been serving the people of Currituck and Dare Counties as a travelling doctor. Beginning his practice, Dr. Griggs drove a mule and cart to attend to the needs of 3,000 people living along the peninsula and the beaches across the Sound; today he uses an automobile. Dr. Griggs is firm believer in preventative medicine, vaccinating for diseases such as typhoid. He is also the first doctor in this section to use the diphtheria antitoxin.
