In an effort to explore flood control, erosion, and preservation of areas subjected to storm surges and severe weather, a project was assembled that compared natural defenses, such as dunes and water run-off areas, against the implementation of artificial structures, such as retaining walls and artificial dikes. In certain examples, natural defenses proved more resistant than synthetic approaches. \r\n

Sponsored by the Western North Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church, Brevard College, a fully accredited two-year educational college, located in Transylvania County, is primarily designed as a transition school for Christian students interested in pursuing a degree at a four-year institution. Each student is required to complete six hours of Bible study during the two year program, acquainting students with content and fundamentals of the Christian faith.

Abstract:
In southeastern North Carolina, three men, Gary Burns, David Grove, and Milton George, have built an alligator hunting business, capturing reptiles for profit. Trapping approximately five hundred gators in five years time, Burns, Grove, and George, sell their prizes to zoos, collecting anywhere from $20 to $150 a head.
