This short article is a debate over who could be considered the luckiest man that ever lived. The author recounts the tale of a lucky survivor of the ship, City of Savannah, which was battered by a storm off of Cape Hatteras. After falling overboard, a lucky wave picked the stranded man up and placed him back on deck.

Abstract:
Southport community members and the Baptist church in Brunswick County joined together to raise money for a church renovation. Members of each group volunteered time and effort to generate enough money to add an auditorium and other upgrades for their community's Baptist church. Men gathered scrap metal and ladies ran a launderette.

The Gastonia Chamber of Commerce attempted to diversify its interest when it reached out to the community. It aired radio advertisements and added more vocational training to the public school curriculum. An industrial exposition was the biggest public outreach by the Gastonia Chamber of Commerce. The expo highlighted locally manufactured goods to demonstrate pride within the blue collar community of Gastonia and promoted further industrial growth and interests.
