There were two Robert Williams’ from Pitt County in the Revolutionary War pensions. This is NOT the well known Dr. Robert Williams, of Falkand, Pitt Co., NC. In July 1820, this Robert Williams, age 86, was living in Davidson Co., TN.

From Pension Records, James Ross was born on June 8, 1761 in Martin Co., NC, d. Jan. 1, 1849 in Anson Co., NC; md. in 1781/82 in Martin Co., NC to Liddy Coburn, dau. of Frank Coburn. They had 13 children. James and Liddy Ross moved in 1798 to Anson Co., NC (in part that later became Union County). In 1799, James Ross’ father and family moved from Martin Co., NC to Anson Co., NC. James had a brother, William Ross, b. 1770, living in Union Co.., NC in 1851. Liddy Ross, age 91, was living in Union Co., NC in Sept. 1855.

Former slaves, Louis Cory and wife Jane, had two children: Gatsy A. Corey and Jordan Corey. Spire Wethington claimed Jane belonged to him when the children were born and Benjamin Corey claimed both of them. Spire Wethington applied for apprenticeship of the children who were in his possession. The Court gave the children to their father, Louis Corey, to take care of them and keep them out of County care.
