Senate Bill 325 proposes redistricting for Wake County school districts. Critics of the bill believe redistricting, a bill proposed by Republicans, would unfairly help Republicans in future school board elections because four out of the nine new districts would lean more conservatively. This measure is also being presented at a time when Democrats control Wake County's school board.

Abstract:
Public health advocates are drawing attention to immigrants being denied access to mental health services in Orange and Chantham counties. The problem lies in the \"managed care organizations\" plan which distributes state funds to private providers. Specifically the provider for this area, Cardinal Innovations, is being scrutinized for possible denying or ignoring the health needs of immigrants within these counties.

Abstract:
The Goathouse Rescue is a no-kill animal shelter in Chatham County. Recently the shelter was highlighted by a New York Times article and featured on the Today show to cheer on elderly owner Siglinda Scarpa as a heroine to abandoned animals, almost all cats. Volunteers are speaking out about the overpopulation of animals at the refuge and potential health risks to feline and human alike.
