Donated money will aid in maintenance and upgrades to the University's poultry science building. Accepting this donation is controversial after a 2012 reported on abuse and neglect of animals on the Prestage Farms.

The establishment is cherished by some while reviled by other neighbors who complain about the noise disturbance when the store hosts live bands. Management continues to change and current managers will be out in December leaving this quirky store's future unclear.

The Dix Park in Raleigh was created after the General Assembly closed the Dorothea Dix Hospital. Since then, a battle by concerned citizens ensued to keep the park open for public use. Council of State ruled on Tuesday to put the city of Raleigh in control of the 325 acre park, keeping it open for the foreseeable future.
