140 West is a mixed-purpose construction project in the heart of Chapel Hill, located on the corner of West Franklin and Church streets. Developers anticipate that construction of this eight story retail/residential building will be complete by 2013. The development sparks mixed emotion; supporters see progress in the face of economic depression while skeptics anticipate bankruptcy.

Abstract:
The International Bluegrass Music Association chose Raleigh to host the next three World of Bluegrass confab beginning in 2013. The state is a suitable host for this major bluegrass event considering some of bluegrass' biggest stars came from North Carolina, such as Earl Scruggs and the late Doc Watson. Also notable is that the first president of the International Bluegrass Music Association was Art Menius was a triangle native.
