The North Carolina economy is starting to show signs of recovery, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Bank profitability and investment issues have improved. Employment rates, however, continue to decline and the state expects a budget shortfall this year.

Renee Ellmers was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2010 and serves the Second District of North Carolina. Builders of Hope is a national, non-profit provider of affordable and workforce housing that is challenging the status quo. They transform homes in once-blighted areas to create urban, sustainable, attractive and affordable neighborhoods. Nancy Murray founded the organization in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the economic impact has been positive for working families.
