Abstract:
The average citizen of North Carolina doesn't associate Wake County with industry, but when you make a survey of the County, you discover there are a variety of industries within its boundaries. Everything from awnings, cabinets, concrete, cotton, farm machinery, sausage, and wash boards is made in Wake County.

Most North Carolinians do not associate Wake County with industry, probably because with the state capital within its borders, it is the center of politics. However, there is industry which the article lists by the dozens. The county is also a large dairy and farming area.

Developer, James Goodnight, purchased a building in Raleigh for renovation, but did not plan to begin construction on the building until 2016. N.C. State School of Design student, Shelley Smith, contacted Goodnight and is now leasing the space as an art studio and exhibition area until construction begins. Smith hopes that this example of using free space will become a trend in the Raleigh area, for it is a great opportunity for local artists.
