Abstract:
A program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has taught 4,000 children to swim without a single pupil failing to pass. The Department of Physical Education and Athletics believe the swimming program teaches not only increased safety and proficiency, but also good citizenship and personal hygiene, and cooperation.

One of the greatest records compiled by a North Carolina college sports team during the past five years has been turned in by the University of North Carolina swimmers, who have won their last 21 dual meets in succession, and have been victors in 41 of their last 42 meets.
