Abstract:
Ashley provides interesting information about the taxi business in the state. There are 1,785 cabs operating with over 3,500 people engaged in taxicab work. An average cab uses 2,000 gallons of gas a year, and the cabs travel over thirty-five million miles a year on the streets and roads. The business also provides revenue for the state through license taxes and a six cents state tax on each gallon of gas used.
