Roanoke River Partners (RRP) incorporated in 1997 to connect the towns and five counties along the river in northeastern North Carolina, capitalizing on the region's natural and cultural assets as a source for new enterprise. The nonprofit's signature achievement has been the development and promotion of the 200 mile 'Roanoke River Water Trail' featuring 16 rustic camp sites and river platforms, most accessible only by kayak, canoe or small boats.
