Abstract:
Person County is one of those counties which owes its present prosperity and progress to three outstanding factors: agricultural resources, industrial plants, and the tobacco market. There are a total of 2,672 farms valued in excess of $5,000,000 in Person County; the principal crops are tobacco, corn, wheat, and sweet potatoes. Among the largest industrial concerns are velvet and cotton mills.

Abstract:
Person County owes its present prosperity and progress to three factors--its agricultural resources, industrial plants, and tobacco market. The county has 2,672 farms with a total value of over $5 million. Among the largest industrial concerns are the Collins and Aikman Corporation with a plant employing 1,500, and the Roxboro Cotton Mills and the Longhurst Cotton Mills. The county is also rich in undeveloped minerals, including copper, iron, and granite.
