Abstract:
Jones tours several Civil War-era forts located along the banks of the Cape Fear River, Pamlico Sound, and Atlantic Ocean. They are Fort Macon, considered one of the best preserved 19th century fortifications in the nation; Fort Fisher; and Fort Caswell.
