At its 48th annual meeting in Winston-Salem in August, the North Carolina Bar Association endorsed the plan for continuous legal institutes to keep North Carolina's lawyers abreast of the constant changes in the law.

The authors’ analysis of the history of this state’s public defender system traces its development since the 1970s. Their inclusion of legal entitles and court cases involved in its development indicate the complexity of its origins and its continued value, particularly for indigent clients.

The author’s reflection on the value of research, a well-stocked law library, and helpful librarians for attorneys led to examining the coda for this state’s legal profession, General Statues of North Carolina. From there, Culver asserted its worth by discussing sample articles from its volumes. Perhaps of particular interest to today’s lawyers is an article he noted from it that contained sample study questions for North Carolina's 1919 Bar Exam.

Abstract:
The NC State Bar Disciplinary Department and Grievance Committee in North Carolina are making an increased effort to stop wire fraud scammers. With a public state bar's website and over 30,000 licensed individuals, it is becoming easier for criminals to seize sensitive information. Facilitators are doubling efforts to protect against these crimes by insisting that lawyers take large precautions against fraud scammers, or succumb to professional discipline.
