Abstract:
Sam Alford became a distinguished local citizen in his hometown of Henderson and across Vance County. His reputation as a civic leader stretched from his town, his county, and even across the state. During the 1930s and 1940s his charitable work extended to Boy and Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, Red Cross, War Relief, USO, Civilian defense, Salvation Army, and further unmentioned organizations.
