Abstract:
North Carolina politicians, Republican Pat McCrory, Democrat Beverly Perdue, and Democrat Roy Cooper all want to bar aliens from attending community college. This would lead to a permanent underclass of unskilled, menial workers. The group which would be most affected are Mexican immigrants and the history of the oppression and hate directed toward immigrants in America is discussed in the current context.

The total enrollment in North Carolina higher education public schools has increased by 41.9% from 1946 to 1962, while the total for non-public schools has risen by 33.6%. Additionally, enrollment in public junior colleges has increased over 80% for this period.

Based on figures from the North Carolina Board of Higher Education, 1962 fall registration in North Carolina's higher education institutes showed a 7.45% overall increase above the previous year. With the addition of 5603 new students, the college-going population in North Carolina reached a new high of over 80800 students, 60000 North Carolina residents.
