Abstract:
A Podcast interview with a rape survivor shrouded in anonymity became well known as an illustration of the typical survivor’s road to justice. As the author revealed, it often contains long investigation process delays and yields no convictions, as confirmed by the accompanying statistics. From the ensuing investigation and ten part series about sexual assault on “Sarah Says,” Sarah Delia hoped to help make their road to justice shorter and smoother.

Among the crimes persistently challenging college campus safety is sexual assault. Researching efforts through corporations such as RTI International are producing data related to identifying factors and evaluating preventative measures. The collaborative effect of such data can hopefully help to reduced incidences of this common campus crime.

Abstract:
Sexual assault cases based on events that took place years ago can be difficult cases for all involved. This bulletin provides a resource for judges and lawyers involved in sexual assault cases based on conduct before 2001. The bulletin lists the most commonly charged offenses in sexual assault cases and tracks the evolution of those charges between 1950 and 2000. It also describes the major sentencing regimes before structured sentencing and addresses the issue of sex offender registration and monitoring as it concerns older cases.
