Abstract:
Raund Haus is a group of instrumental hip-hop and electronic beat makers Durham. They play at a small venue called The Shed, and recently launched their own record label. As Raund Haus gains popularity, Durham is becoming a burgeoning hub for experimental electronic music.

Over the last decade, Chaz Martenstein has helped his Bull City Records become what is now the longest-running record store in Durham, North Carolina. To celebrate the shop’s eleventh year, Martenstein is putting on a two-day music festival this weekend. Every band on the festival’s roster has a connection with the Triangle and the shop.

Abstract:
In 1962 the Record Bar was a single mom-and-pop store in a dying section of downtown Durham. By 1982, it had grown into the second-largest national retail chain in the record industry with sales in 1981 of $65 million. The retail chain has 136 stores in twenty-eight states.
