Abstract:
Dr. Charles Manooch III is a biologist at the National Marine Fisheries Service, Beaufort Laboratory in North Carolina. He is known for his fisheries conservation work and recently authored a fisherman’s guide to the fishes of the southeastern United States.
Abstract:
To most people fishing exists for two reasons--sports and recreation and earning a living. Fisheries biologists, however, fish for knowledge. Hining discusses how their equipment differs from the usual fisherman, how the fish are caught, what they do with the fish, and how this knowledge helps them manage fish populations.
