Toe River Arts Council’s (TRAC’s) twenty-third annual Holiday Studio Tour will feature more than seventy artists in Yancey and Mitchell counties. A guide lists artists and galleries on a map of the tour. This is an opportunity for the community and visitors to meet artists where they live and work.
Diane S. Dean is a painter in Hendersonville, North Carolina who values the people part of doing her art above all else. She loves interacting with people at art festivals, and her extroverted personality lends itself well to working closely with clients to create commissioned pieces. Most of her acrylic paintings are of natural landscapes and flowers.
Hendersonville will offer an outdoor art gallery experience through the 2017 ArtScape Banner Project, reproducing selected work from local artists onto forty banners that will hang throughout the downtown area for a year. ArtScape will include a wide range of styles, media and subject matter, with both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work represented.
The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League celebrates their fiftieth anniversary. Margaret Gilbert and Olive Granger started the league in 1967, recruiting mostly women artists in Black Mountain and the surrounding region. Members continue the legacy of its founders through regular meetings, displays of work and varied art classes.
