Honored at a ceremony held at the University of Missouri, Honeycutt, a native of High Point, North Carolina, was educated at the School of Modern Photography, in New York City.

A continuation of the ore exploitation efforts within North Carolina continues in Lincoln County as hopes of finding lithium within spodumene deposits begins. A critical ingredient in the making of hydrogen bombs, lithium does not exist on its own but rather within lithium-baring ores. North Carolina hopes to become one of the world's leading producers of lithium.

Contractors of steamships, dams, army camps, and industrial plants, J.A. Jones Construction Company, of Charlotte, North Carolina is most famous for receiving the largest single contract ever awarded a single firm. Totaling $460,000,000 for the gaseous diffusion plant at Oak Ridge's atomic energy layout, J.A. Jones' current projects include the world's largest earth filled dam in Yellowstone National Park as well as additional dams in North and South America and water supply systems in several cities.

A chance meeting between James B. Duke and Dr. W. Gill Wylie led to a meeting with William States Lee, a young engineer who knew a great deal about electricity. Together the three men planned a power firm that began with the name Southern Power Company in 1905 and later became the Duke Power Company. Today there are 20,000 miles of lines in the system which serves over a million people.

The Oratorio Singers of Charlotte, North Carolina began its organization in 1951, composed of people from all walks of life with a single passion--singing. The group has now achieved nation-wide attention and acclaim, directed by Donald Plott, Chairman of the Music Department at Davidson College. The group of singers performs not only in Charlotte and the surrounding region, but has also been seen and heard on radio and television.
