She is a frequent performer in Chapel Hill, and recently earned a coveted fellowship with the University of North Carolina’s Southern Folk life Collection. Daniel Hart is a musician who lived in Chapel Hill from 2002-2009, crafting gorgeous songs with his band The Physics of Meaning. His more recent work has included composing music for ads and short films, but this year Hart wrote the score for Disney’s remake of the 1977 movie Pete’s Dragon. This is Hart’s biggest project featuring the largest orchestral ensemble with which he has ever recorded.

Carrboro’s Squirrel Nut Zippers led the swing music revival of the late nineties, making their way into mainstream radio. The shadow of litigation, acrimonious departures, and the divorce of Jimbo Mathus and Katharine Whalen caused the band to fall apart a few years after their second album Hot. Only two members of the original band are on board for this year’s twentieth anniversary tour for Hot.

In response to North Carolina’s House Bill Two, the duo printed rainbow-flag “Safe Space” stickers. Each sticker comes with a pledge that businesses and their employees understand the work of maintaining safe spaces.
