Abstract:
Two of the remaining covered bridges in North Carolina are the Pisgah Covered Bridge in Randolph County and the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge in Catawba County. This article provides the history of the two bridges, and perspectives of local artists and photographers.

Abstract:
Built in 1734, St. Thomas Episcopal Church is the oldest church in North Carolina and is located in the town of Bath. Reverend John Garzia, the first rector called to serve at the church, brought several gifts to the parish. These gifts, which are still displayed in the church, include royal candelabras, Bibles, and a silver chalice believed to be one of the oldest communion cups in existence.

Abstract:
Dr. Francis J. Kron was born in Prussia in 1798, married in Paris in 1823, and later came with his wife to her uncle's home in Montgomery County. They set up housekeeping in 1834 on land that is now Morrow Mountain State Park in Stanly County. He was as famous for his flowers and vegetables as he was for his medical practice.
