Dear Mrs. Fletcher: Governor Hodges has asked you to serve on the Commission appointed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the incorporation of Bath, the first capital of North Carolina. He has asked me to act as Chairman. I hope that you have written him accepting the appointment. It will not be too big a job if everyone will help. I am calling a meeting of the Commission to meet at my summer cottage on Pamlico River, seven miles below Washington, next Monday, July 18th at 3:30 in the afternoon. The place is on the road to the Country Club and will be well marked with the word HARDING. We will have the meeting at 3:30, after which committees appointed will have a meeting of their own. I shall cook a couple of pigs. We will eat and you can go home by seven o'clock. This will be the only general meeting of the Commission and I hope that you will do your best to be present.
