Notes: As a farming community, the area around Bath was poor, as seen in this and the following letter from R. A. Braddy to William
Blount Rodman, Jr., about trying to collect drainage taxes from the local residents.
Your letter receive [sic] in regards to collecting drainage tax
I will make an effort to see thes [sic] parties and will let you heare [sic] from me Friday[.] I don’t think that you need
to look for much cash for I don’t think they have it to pay.
