- Receipt for taxes paid by Elias Carr to the Government of the Confederate States. Elias Carr, agriculturalist and businessman of Edgecombe County, N.C., was Democratic governor of North Carolina, president of the N.C. State Farmers’ Alliance and Industrial Union, member of the Board of Directors of Rocky Mount Mills, trustee of N.C. College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, and commissioner of the N.C. Geological Survey.
